The Special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court today held infamous gangster Chhota Rajan and nine others guilty in the J Dey murder case. However, the court gave a relief to journalist Jigna Vora by acquitting her.
J Dey was a senior crime journalist working with the Mid-Day publication. He was shot dead in Powai area of Mumbai on June 11, 2011, seven years ago. Dey had written several reports on the Mumbai underworld and had reportedly been working on a story that would focus largely on Chhota Rajan.
J Dey was going on a motorcycle in Powai area of Mumbai on June 2011, where the attackers followed him. After chasing him they fired five bullets from behind. The bystanders took him to the nearby Hiranandani hospital where he was declared dead. So far, the Mumbai Police has arrested the attackers.
