Karnataka government is fully committed to the loan waiver: CM HD Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru | Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Friday said that the Karnataka government is fully committed towards the farm loan waivers.

CM Kumaraswamy said the government is looking to develop a scientifically-procured process so that farmers can reap the maximum benefit from the loan waiver.

“Dear farmers, Let there be no confusion on farm loan waiver. I am fully committed to the loan waiver. I want to ensure it is done scientifically benefitting maximum farmers. I am working on the modalities and will announce it shortly,” he tweeted.

Earlier CM Kumaraswamy meet the representatives of the farmers and promised to waive the loans within 15 days of coming to power. Ahead of the Karnataka assembly election, HD Kumaraswamy’s JD(S) had promised a complete farm loan waiver without any conditions and within 24 hours.

An estimated Rs 53,000 crore required to waive farm loans in Karnataka which makes around one-fourth of the total budget size.
