Karnataka Lockdown 4.0: All shops to open, trains to start, cabs and buses allowed

Karnataka today decided to lift various lockdown restraints even as it saw the biggest single-day jump in the number of COVID-19 cases.

Bengaluru| Karnataka govt has further relaxed curbs in the ongoing national lockdown 4.0. The state government on Monday allowed all the four state transport corporation buses to operate, except in red and containment zones, from tomorrow.

State govt has also ordered strict lockdown actions in containment zones and permitted most of the economic activities to reopen in other areas. Sundays will be total lockdown throughout Karnataka, said Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa after meeting state ministers to review the guidelines announced by the Central govt concerning the fourth phase of national lockdown.

All shops will be allowed to open, and all trains running within the state will be allowed to operate, the government said.

Government has explained that only 30 people would be permitted to travel in the buses and wearing of face masks while maintaining physical distancing. For taxis, auto and cabs, a maximum of two passengers will be permitted along with the driver.

Salons and spa can now open. Malls and shopping complexes will remain shut, as recommended in the all previous lockdown orders.

The total cases in India surged to 96,169 including over 36,000 cured/discharged or migrated and 3,021 deaths amid lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.

In the past 24 hours, 157 casualties were recorded. A staggering 5,034 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours, highest so far.
