2 BSF jawans were killed in militant attack in Pandach area of Central Kashmir on Wednesday: Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said.
Srinagar: Two Border Security Force (BSF) jawans martyred in a terror attack in Pandach area of Central Kashmir on Wednesday, the police said. The terrorist fled from the BSF picket with the guns of the two paramilitary soldiers.
“Two BSF jawans were killed after they were attacked at Pandach (on the city’s outskirts),” Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said.
The terrorists came on a motorcycle.
This comes following the killing of a top commander of the terror group Hizbul Mujahideen in Srinagar.
Junaid Sehrai, son of separatist conglomerate Tehreek-e-Hurriyat’s chairman Ashraf Sehrai, was among two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants killed in a gunfight with security forces in old city Srinagar on Tuesday.
A cop was also killed while another cop and three paramilitary CRPF personnel, including an officer, were injured in the battle which broke out during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday at congested Nawa Kadal area of Srinagar.

During the operation, 15 civilian houses were destroyed with explosives.
In the previous 7 weeks, 27 men from the Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), state police and BSF have been martyred in attacks across Kashmir valley. The police said they have also eliminated 38 terrorists during the same period.
