Legislative council polls in Maharashtra and Karnataka rescheduled to October 4

New Delhi | The Election Commision on Friday announced that the legislative council polls in the state of Karnataka and Maharashtra will now be conducted on October 4.

Legislative council bypolls are scheduled for the three seats in the Karnataka while on one seat in Maharashtra legislative council. The election commision has postponed the last date of filing nominations to September 24. While the last date for candidature withdrawal is pushed to September 27.

In an issued statement the Election Commision said “The Commission has suitably amended the schedule changing the last date for making nominations to the next working day, that is September 24 (Monday). Consequently, the date of scrutiny, the last date of withdrawal of candidatures and the date of the poll has been accordingly shifted.”
