Maharashtra Govt Disburses Package of 1,273 Cr To Social Justice Dept

Maharashtra disbursed a package that will provide help to widows & senior citizens from the weaker sections and physically disabled.

Mumbai| Amid the ongoing national lockdown due to COVID-19 outbreak, Maharashtra social justice department will pass the relief benefits to 34.28 lakh beneficiaries after govt disbursed a Rs 1,273 worth package.

On Monday, state deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar said that the package will provide financial aid to widows and senior citizens from the economically weaker sections and physically disabled.

The advance payment is for the months of April, May and June, he said.

“Some schemes also have a component that is received from the Centre. However, the Centre has given just Rs 130 crore and the rest of the amount is being provided by the state itself,” Pawar said.

The total number of cases in Maharashtra– the worst affected state by the virus, has climbed to 8,590 with 369 deaths.
