Major focus is to strengthen India-US relations during the visit: Nikki Haley

New Delhi | United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley on Wednesday said that the major focus during her 3-day visit to India is to strengthen the relationship between India and US.

Speaking to media during her visit at the historic Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi, Haley said “On this trip to India, we have got a lot packed into a short amount of time. But it really comes down to the strength of the United States and India partnership.”

“Whether it is counter-terrorism or better ways to work together more strongly on the military aspect, there are lots of things that India and the US have in common,” she said while aiming at exploring multiple ways to take India-US opportunities forward.

Haley further added that “I’m here to once again solidify our love for India, our belief in the friendship that India & US have together & our willingness to want to make that relationship even stronger. In this day&time we see more & more reasons to India & US come together.”

The highest ranked Indian-American diplomat in the Donald Trump’s administration, Nikki Haley on her June 26-28 visit to India will meet senior Indian Government officials, NGO leaders among others and discuss a host of topics including India-US strategic ties and significant global developments.
