Traffic Snarls As Heavy Rains Lashing Delhi Leads To Waterlogged Roads

The Delhi Traffic Police said on Saturday that waterlogging has been reported in many parts of the capital amid heavy rains.

Due to heavy rains in the areas of Delhi-NCR from Friday night waterlogging has been reported in low lying areas at many places including ITO, Rajghat, Dhaulakuan, Minto Bridge, Azad Market, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad. The waterlogging has led to heavy traffic jam. Underpasses are flooded everywhere, too. As a result, people are facing a lot of difficulties. Arrangements and claims for drainage maintenance made by the municipal corporations in the face of torrential rains also proved to be futile.

The Delhi Traffic Police said on Saturday that waterlogging has been reported in many parts of the capital amid heavy rains. The traffic police has urged all the passengers going on duty to avoid these routes. The traffic police has listed Minto Bridge, Azad Market, Bridge Prahladpur and Moolchand Underpass as areas where waterlogging has been reported. The traffic police tweeted that the Azad Market underpass has been closed and traffic on the Moolchand underpass has been affected.

The bridge at Prahladpur underpass is flooded after continuous rains. Due to traffic obstruction on MB Road, it has been diverted on Mathura Road. “Please avoid this route,” police said on the microblogging site Twitter. In a previous tweet, police also reported that traffic on the Minto Bridge has been stopped due to waterlogging.
