Mamata Banerjee and Narendra Modi Discuss About Tripura Violence & BSF Jurisdiction

New Delhi : In a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Trinmool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee discussed about the violence in Tripura and the issue of BSF jurisdiction in Bengal. She spoke about how Saayoni was targeted during Tripura Violence. She further demanded that the decision to extend BSF’s jurisdiction in the state to be withdrawn.

“I have spoken about Tripura violence, informed the Prime Minister about what’s happening there and how Saayoni was targeted,” said Mamata Banerjee.

Mamata Banerjee also mentioned that the state is yet to get Rs 96,605 crore from Centre for natural calamities that massacred the state.

Speaking about BSF jurisdiction Mamata said, “If BSF gets more power, it disturbs the law and order situation and one must know that law is a state subject.” This statement of CM comes Amid Cooch Behar Case were BSF had indiscriminately fired.

Mamata said, “This is why, I requested the PM to discuss the issue and to make sure the federal structure isn’t unnecessarily disturbed.”

Speaking about Trinamool fighting from other states, Mamata said: “TMC will fight from where it is needed. If Akhilesh Yadav wants us to support them in Uttar Pradesh, we will.”

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had on Monday said she will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during her visit to Delhi, and raise issues concerning the enhancement of BSF jurisdiction as well as the ongoing “atrocities” in Tripura.

Banerjee also invited the Prime Minister to inaugurate Global Business Meet in West Bengal to be held next year.

Earlier in the day, Banerjee met BJP leader Subramanian Swamy. Following the meeting, Swamy laid speculations about him joining the Trinamool Congress to rest. “I was already with her (Mamata). There is no need for me to join the party,” he told reporters.

On Tuesday, Congress leader Kirti Azad and former Haryana Congress president Ashok Tanwar joined the TMC in the presence of the Chief Minister in Delhi.
