Manju Verma who was social welfare Minister in Bihar government stepped down following the alleged links between her husband Chandrashekhar Verma and Muzaffarpur shelter home case accused Brajesh Thakur.

Begusarai| The absconding former Bihar Minister Manju Verma surrendered before Begusarai court on Tuesday. Manju Verma has been evading the arrest since last few months. On Tuesday, she arrived at a court in Manjhaul village of Begusarai with three others and surrendered herself. However, as soon as she surrendered before the court, she fainted.

A case was registered against her under the Arms Act by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the Muzaffarpur shelter home case.

Manju Verma who was holding the portfolio of social welfare in the Nitish Kumar cabinet stepped down following the alleged links between her husband Chandrashekhar Verma and Muzaffarpur shelter home case prime accused Brajesh Thakur. In the subsequent raids at her residence in Patna, the CBI found a cache of ammunition after which she was charged with the Arms Act.

Her husband Chandrashekhar Verma on October 29 had surrendered before a court in Begusarai. Last week, she was also suspended from the primary membership of JD(U).
