Massive fire engulfs army camp near LoC in Machil, damage reported

Srinagar, Aug 28: A massive fire today engulfed an army camp in Machil sector along the line of control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district which caused huge damage to the property.

Reports said that huge loss of property including some arms and ammunition is feared at 45 RR headquarter camp situated at Hamar Gali in Machil sector.

According to the Srinagar based defence PRO, the fire has been brought under the control after hard efforts and some loss of property took place, however, there is no loss of life.

The fire, which broke out at about 1:00 pm under suspicious circumstances is primarily believed to be due to a short circuit which swiftly engulfed the entire camp which is having in-store oil barrels, huge arms and ammunition, reports said.

Reportedly, three soldiers had suffered minor burn injuries while dousing the fire besides some explosions also took place due to it which was not officially confirmed by the army while the actual cause of fire is being ascertained.
