The hospital in Meerut on Sunday published another advertisement, with an apology. The advertisement said that the hospital is sorry if it had hurt anyone’s sentiments.

Meerut| A Meerut based hospital faced a heavy flack after it posted an advertisement in newspapers that it will only admit those Muslims who’ve tested negative for coronavirus. As per the news agency ANI< the Valentis Cancer hospital in Meerut had put out an advertisement in the newspaper. It had asked Muslim patients and caretakers to come for treatment only after undergoing coronavirus tests.

The said advertisement also blamed Tablighi Jamaat for spreading the virus across the country. The hospital had said that only patients who tested negative will be admitted. It also asked patients to produce reports of their Covid-19 test before getting admitted for treatment.

Police informed that they have booked the management of the hospital for the controversial ad. Meerut SSP Ajay Kumar Sahni said that further action will be taken against the hospital.

“We have registered a case. We are taking action as per the evidence available,” the SSP said.

After facing the relentless criticism for its advertisement, the hospital apologized later.

“The advertisement was an appeal to all the people to follow the government guidelines so that everyone stays safe. It has nothing to do with religion. We apologize as some words hurt people’s sentiments. The hospital never intended to hurt anyone’s sentiments,” Dr. Amit Jain, Manager of Valentis Cancer Hospital said.

The ad was released by the hospital on Friday. It also said that all Hindus and Jains are missed and should contribute to PM’s fund to help in fighting Covid-19.
