Mumbai| Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leaders today urged the management of the Hotstar application to add the feature of Marathi commentary for its broadcast. The leaders said that the OTT platform has been broadcasting the commentary during the ongoing IPL in different regional languages. They demanded that the option of Marathi language commentary should also be added to the streaming platform.
Ketan Naik, an office-bearer of Raj Thackeray’s MNS, said: “Today we visited the office of Hotstar company. Hotstar app is currently streaming IPL cricket matches and it has made the commentary available in 8 different languages for these games. If you can choose 8 languages, which comprises of Bengali, Tamil Telugu, Kannada and others, but the Marathi language has not been given a place in these options.”
Naik further added: “Therefore, today we have given a primary intimation to the Hotstar management. In future, before the current season of IPL ends, they should include the Marathi language in the app. This is our demand. If it is not fulfilled, then we will have to act in our MNS way. Hotstar management should take note of this and perform corrective action.”
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, founded by Raj Thackeray, mainly focuses on the issues of Maharashtra. It has been at the forefront of various agitations against migration of workers from other states such as Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
