“Modi hai toh Mumkin Hai”: Ladakh MP praises PM Modi for opening a university

New Delhi | BJP MP Jamyang Tsering from Ladakh has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi after Ladakh was declared into a new Union Territory.

Speaking in Lok Sabha he chanted the BJP catchphrase “Modi Hai toh Mumkin Hai”, to commend the PM for all the development work he has carried out in the region.

He said, ” UPA gave Kashmir a Central University in 2011. Jammu fought and took a Central University. I was a Student Union leader. We demanded a Central University in Ladakh, but we didn’t get any,” he said. “PM Modi ji recently gave us a university. ‘Modi Hai to Mumkin Hai’.

The Ladakh MP said that now the state of Jammu and Kashmir along with Ladakh can truly prosper now.

“What will be lost with this decision? Sirf do pariwar rozi-roti khoyenge (Only two families will lose their livelihood). The future of Kashmir is all set to get bright”, he said, in a veiled reference to the two political dynasties of Kashmir, Muftis and Abdullahs.

“People are rejoicing back home,” Tsering said, contradicting Opposition’s claims that Kashmiris were unhappy.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah moved a resolution in Rajya Sabha to abolish Article 370 of the Constitution, which accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir, after the president issued a notification, and introduced a Bill to divide the state into two Union Territories — Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

The Rajya Sabha approved both the resolution and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019.
