In Chand Bagh, Muslims Protected Hindu Temple From The Violent Mob During Delhi Riots

The residents mostly Muslims did not allow the violent mob to touch a temple by forming a human chain with Hindus.

 

New Delhi| North-east Delhi was burning in the fire of communal violence for three days. But in some places Hindus and Muslims united to give the message of humanity. Religious communities in Vijay Park and Yamuna Vihar area not only prevented the rioters from entering the colony but also ensured the peace.

Travelling through the stretch one can see that only homes alongside a road were damaged here, the rest of the area wasn’t damaged. On the other hand, in Chand Bagh, Muslim locals presented an example of communal harmony. The residents mostly Muslims did not allow the violent mob to touch a temple by forming a human chain with Hindus.

Rakesh Jain, a resident of street number 17 of Vijay Park, said that the temple and mosque in the C-12 area of ​​Yamuna Vihar are about 100 meters away. In the evening, the voice of the Azan from the mosque and the sound of the Bells from the temple ring at the same time. He said the locals are like a big family. He said, “The people of the Muslim community are our brothers. The rioters were coming from outside and we are not letting them enter the colony by standing together.”

Both communities did not allow the temple-mosque to be desecrated

Suhail Mansoori, who has been living in the same area for 20 years, said that as a result of both the communities living in the colony together, neither the mosque nor the temple was set on fire. Rahul, a resident of C-12, said that for the first time in 35 years there has been communal violence. “When the rioters entered our market, we drove them out together,” he said.

Mohammad Zakir of this block says, “I used to live in Vijay Park before and have recently come to this colony. We have good relations with all the Hindus here. On Eid, they come to us and on Diwali, we visit them. We are constantly guarding the colony at night so that no untoward incidents occur.”
