Muzaffarpur Shelter Home Case: Former Bihar Minister Manju Verma jailed

Manju Verma- the social welfare Minister in the Bihar govt. stepped down following the alleged links between her husband and Muzaffarpur shelter home case prime accused Brajesh Thakur.

 

Patna| Former Bihar minister Manju Verma and her husband Chandrasekhar Verma have been sent to jail in the Arms Act case in connection with the Muzaffarpur Shelter Home Case. Earlier in the day they were produced before the court.

The absconding former Bihar Minister Manju Verma surrendered before Begusarai court on November 20. She had been evading the arrest since last few months. The SC had ordered the state DGP to appear before the court on November 27 if the police fail to arrest the absconding state minister. A case was registered against her under the Arms Act by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the Muzaffarpur shelter home case.

Manju Verma who was holding the portfolio of social welfare in the Nitish Kumar cabinet stepped down following the alleged links between her husband Chandrashekhar Verma and Muzaffarpur shelter home case prime accused Brajesh Thakur. In the subsequent raids at her residence in Patna, the CBI found a cache of ammunition after which she was charged with the Arms Act.

Her husband Chandrashekhar Verma on October 29 had surrendered before a court in Begusarai. Manju Verma was also suspended from the primary membership of JD(U).
