Network18 has terminated its contract with popular cartoonist Manjul, Scroll reported citing people familiar with the situation. The development came a few days after Twitter sent the cartoonist a notice informing him that it has received a legal request from Indian authorities to take action against his social media profile.

Manjul, on June 4, had shared the email he received from Twitter. The government, unlike in Prashant Bhushan case, had had sought action against Manjulâs profile instead of a specific tweet.
While sharing the email on his Twitter account, Manjul wrote: âJai ho Modi ji ki sarkaar ki [Hail the Modi government]â.
