“Nitish Kumar Has Important Role To Play In Bihar’s Progress”: PM Modi Backs Bihar CM

The endorsement of Nitish Kumar as CM candidate by PM Modi comes at a time when the allies LJP and JDU have been involved in a war of words with each other.

Amid the multiple reports suggesting a rift between constituents of NDA in Bihar ahead of assembly polls, Prime Minister Modi backed the incumbent CM Nitish Kumar during his address on Sunday and said Bihar chief minister played a key role in taking the state on the path to progress.

Praising Nitish Kumar for ushering in sushasan (good governance), PM Narendra Modi expressed confidence that the “good work of 15 years” will continue under the leadership of the JDU chief.

“Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has a very important role to play in taking Bihar forward on the path to progress. We must ensure sushasan [good governance] in Bihar. The good work done in the last 15 years must continue,” the Prime Minister said.

“In the last 15 years, Bihar has shown that development happens with the right government, decisions, and policies, and also reaches everyone. Infrastructure has improved. New medical and engineering colleges, law institutes, and polytechnics have come up. We are working for the growth of all sectors in Bihar,” PM Modi further added.

Taking a jibe at the opposition in the state, without naming any party or politician, PM Modi said: “Bihar has for long been plagued by a peculiar mindset. Road projects were frowned upon and people used to ask what do these have to offer those who walk on foot and do not have vehicle.”
