Four people including ONGC Deputy General Manager Mr Garg died in a Helicopter crash off Mumbai’s coast.The Helicopter had gone missing this morning.
Mumbai: Four people have reportedly died in a Helicopter crash near the seashores of Mumbai. The Pawanhans helicopter crashed today afternoon which was on duty for ONGC. The helicopter was carrying total seven passengers including five top employees of ONGC and two pilots. However, three bodies were recovered by the Indian Coastal guards in extensive Search and Rescue operation. Mr Garg, Deputy General Manager of ONGC is among the four who lost their lives in the crash. The three bodies are yet to be identified.

The VTPWA Dauphin AS 365 N3 chopper today took off from Juhu in the morning at 10.20 AM. It was scheduled to land at North field of ONGC plant at Bombay High by 10.58. However, the Air Traffic Control office confirmed that it lost contact with the chopper after the last call at 10.35 AM 30 Nautical miles off Mumbai’s coast.

The chopper was being flown by Captain Katoch and Captain Hotkar. The Search and Rescue operation was immediately commenced after that. However, two hours later by 12.30PM, a Coast Guard ship found the debris of the chopper 40 Nautical Miles North West of Mumbai. So far 5 Ships, 2 Dornier & 2 Helicopters of Indian Coast Guard have been deployed for the underway search operation.
