Delhi| A petrol bomb was thrown at the barricade near Shaheen Bagh protest site this morning. A biker was seen throwing a crude bomb at Jamia University, a few kilometres away from the Shaheen Bagh.
“A petrol bomb was thrown on barricades away from the (Shaheen Bagh) protesters, we have recovered some bottles used in the case and are investigating it,” Senior Police officer Kumar Gyanesh told news agency IANS. The said incident took place around 9:30 AM.
He further added, “Two people were seen on a bike near the barricades, we are checking the CCTV footages for detailed investigation.”
The protest in which the women have been at the forefront has continued for more than 3 months. Although for last couple of days, there has been a long discussion on the issue of whether the protest should continue in the light of coronavirus outbreak.

One of the protestors said “If PM Modi wants us to be safe from coronavirus, then he should have withdrawn CAA, NPR and NRC. We will hold our protest tomorrow too.”
Earlier this week, the Delhi government had banned the gathering of more than 50 people amid coronavirus spread. Cm Kejriwal had said, “No religious, social, cultural and political gatherings comprising more than 50 people will be allowed in Delhi till March 31. The restriction is applicable to protests too.”
Although the organisers of the protest said that the agitation will continue adding that the protestors are taking necessary precautions and they have been provided with masks and sanitizers to avoid infection.
