20 more colleagues who came in contact with the food delivery boy have been quarantined at a facility in Delhi’s Chhattarpur.
New Delhi| After a 19-year-old delivery boy associated with a famous pizza chain tested positive for coronavirus, families in 72 houses in a locality in South Delhi have been told to quarantine themselves, an official said.
The rider, working for an eatery in Malviya Nagar in south Delhi, had delivered food till last Sunday until he fell ill. He has now been admitted to the government-run RML hospital.
A detailed trail of the infected was followed to identify each house where food was delivered by the outlet.
In the last 15 days that he worked, he delivered to 72 families in areas like Hauz Khas, Malviya Nagar and Savitri Nagar.
“We have found that 72 houses had taken delivery from that outlet and hence everyone has been told to follow precautionary measures and be under self- quarantine,” Mishra, district collector, south Delhi, said.

The eatery where the rider worked has shut the branch for 14 days. In a statement, it said it had maintained all COVID-19 protocol but a delivery associate had been infected.
Some of the orders from this eatery were also made through food delivery giant Zomato, which said that while all associates of the delivery boy have tested negative.

The capital city has 1,578 COVID-19 cases, including over 30 fatalities. Across India, there are more than 12,000 coronavirus cases and over 400 have died.
