PM Modi Holds Video Conference With Chief Ministers on COVID-19

The novel Coronavirus causing the COVID-19 disease has killed at least 50 people in India till Thursday morning, 12 of those deaths were reported in last 12 hours.

New Delhi| Practicing social distancing by sitting far apart from each other, Primi Minister Narendra Modi along with key Union Ministers like Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh held a video conference on the current situation with COVID-19 with all Chief Ministers of states to discuss how they are handling the coronavirus crisis.

The novel Coronavirus causing the COVID-19 disease has killed at least 50 people in India till Thursday morning, 12 of those deaths were reported in last 12 hours. The total number of infected people climbed to 1,965 today.

World Health Organisation has warned that this novel coronavirus can be spread through respiratory droplets and thus social distancing has been recommended.

During the video conference, PM Modi and other leaders discussed tracing the contacts of those who are already found infected and sending maximum people to quarantine facility to contain the spread of coronavirus.

According to sources, the sudden rise in cases was also discussed during the conference that occurred due to the religious congregation attended by people in Delhi. More than 150 people have tested positive after attending a religious event.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu tweeted saying people should practice social distancing even after the lockdown is lifted.

This was PM Modi’s second video conference with chief ministers since the first case of coronavirus was detected in India. It was the first conference after PM Modi announced the 21-day lockdown across the country.

Almost all states have mobilized their resources and set up facilities to treat patients infected with COVID-19.
