PM Modi Talks to a Sister in Pune’s Naidu Hospital, Expresses Gratitude

Pune| Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a phone conversation with Sister Chhaya of Pune’s Naidu Hospital, which is looking after the coronavirus patients from and around the city.

Beginning the phone conversation in Marathi, PM Modi also inquired Sister Chhaya about her family and patients who get admitted to the hospital.

PM Modi asked her in Marathi, “Tumhi Kasha Aahat? (How are you doing?)” and also inquired if she’s taking care of herself while treating the patients. He also asked how she convinced her family members for the work she’s doing and they must be worried about her. She responded very diligently saying it’s her duty to serve the people and she’s only doing her job.

PM Modi also asked her if the patients are scared when they get admitted to the hospital. She responded, “Yes, they are scared in the beginning. But we assure them that nothing is going to happen to them and their reports will be fine. We tell them that even if they test positive, there’s nothing to be scared of. 7 positive patients have already recovered and been discharged from the hospital. So we go talk to them and tell them not to be scared.”

Responding to PM’s question of whether the families of patients create panic, she said that they don’t let the families of patients come inside. Stating that the entire hospital has been quarantined, only the hospital staff and patients are allowed inside the premises, she said.

Applauding the work she’s doing and stating that they have contributed the entire hospital for treating coronavirus patients, PM Modi asked if Sister Chhaya had any message for the other health workers, doctors, nurses working across the country in this crisis situation.

Responding to the question, she said,” Don’t be scared. Don’t be scared and continue the work. We have to defeat this disease and make our country win. This should be our slogan.”

PM Modi thanked her for showing exemplary courage and said that the medical staff across the country like her is working day in and out to treat patients of coronavirus.

Sister Chhaya also thanked PM Modi for taking out time and having a conversation with someone from the hospital. She said the entire staff of the hospital is thankful to him for inquiring about them in this crisis situation.
