PMC Bank Scam Accused and HDIL Director Rakesh Wadhawan Tests Positive For COVID-19

Wadhawan was lodged in Jail along with 6 other inmates. One of them, Sarang Wadhawan, accused in the same case, will now be administered COVID-19 test.

 

Mumbai| Rakesh Wadhawan, PMC Bank Scam accused has tested positive for Coronavirus. He has been lodged in Mumbai’s Artur road jail for Rs 4355 Crores PMC bank scam.

On June 6, the jail administration of Arthur Road Jail admitted Wadhawan to JJ Hospital in Mumbai after reports of difficulty in breathing. After which his swab test sample was taken, his reports came out positive on June 10 after which he was admitted to GT Hospital in Mumbai.

Wadhawan was lodged in Jail along with 6 other inmates. One of them, Sarang Wadhawan, accused in the same case, will now be administered COVID-19 test. Wadhawan was admitted to JJ Hospital after suffering chest pain in February.

The PMC bank scam was revealed in September. According to the allegations, the PMC had fraudulently hidden the Rs 4,355 crore loan given to HDIL, by disturbing the banking system and suppressing 44 such loan accounts. In this case, the Economic Offenses Wing of the Mumbai Police and the ED had registered a case against the bank officials and the promoters of HDIL.
