Mumbai| BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur and other accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case have been asked to appear in a special NIA court on Monday. Pragya’s lawyer JP Mishra has said that she will appear in court today. Earlier on 19 December, Mishra had alleged that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) was delaying the trial in the 2008 Malegaon blast case.
Apart from Pragya Thakur, Lt Col Purohit, Chaturvedi and Kulkarni, Ajay Rahirkar, retired Major Ramesh Upadhyay and Sudhakar Dwivedi are also accused in the case. Let us tell you that four out of the seven accused had appeared before the court. They has been charged under various sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), Explosive Substances Act and Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The charges include UAPA and sections 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy), 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 324 (voluntarily injuring), sections 16 (committing terrorist acts) and 18 (conspiracy to commit terrorist acts). A case is also registered under IPC 153 (A) (promoting enmity between two religious groups).
