Zirakpur: A 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped at gunpoint by a friend. The Zirakpur police has booked a Bathinda man.

The incident took place on October 29 in her complaint she said. Victim stated that the incident happened at night, when she was returning to Mohali from her home in Barnala on a bus. She called her friend Kushwinder to pick her up from the bus stop as she was carrying a lot of luggage.

Kushwinder, who was waiting for her in an SUV, picked her up from the bus stop around 8 pm. But instead of dropping her at her PG accommodation, he took her to a secluded spot. He then threatened her with a gun, raped her and abandoned her on the roadside.

A case was registered under Sections 376 (rape), 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

15-year-old raped in Hoshiarpur

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her uncle in a village under Mahilpur Police Station here, police said on Saturday. The incident took place in February this year but the victim revealed her ordeal to her mother after she became pregnant.

The accused identified as Jasbir Singh allegedly raped the victim when she was alone at home and her mother was away for work, police said, adding that he has been arrested.

He allegedly raped her again eight days later and threatened the victim of dire consequences if she told anyone about it. according to police.

The victim’s mother became suspicious and get her medically examined after which she came to know about the pregnancy, they said.

Investigating officer Jaskaran Kaur said Singh has been booked under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
