Rahul Gandhi Lacks Consistency, Says NCP Chief Sharad Pawar

When asked about Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar said that it is important to see how much recognition his leadership has in the party organization.

Mumbai| Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has once again come under fire after the party’s poor performance in the Bihar Assembly elections. Meanwhile, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, in an exclusive interview to Lokmat, has made important statements about Rahul Gandhi’s position in the Congress party and his leadership.

When asked about Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar said that it is important to see how much recognition his leadership has in the party organization and among the people. He further said that the Congress cadre has still pinned its hope on the Nehru-Gandhi family. “Given the rank and file situation in the Congress today, the Congressmen still have faith in the Gandhi-Nehru family. Since Soniaji or Rahul Gandhi both represent that family, the majority of the people in the party are of their opinion and we have to accept this fact,” Sharad Pawar said.

Asked whether the country is ready to accept Rahul Gandhi’s leadership at this time, Sharad Pawar said, “It seems that he has some questions.” He pointed out towards Rahul Gandhi’s lack of consistency. Pawar also reacted to Barack Obama’s mention of Rahul Gandhi in his book. Pawar said, “Barack Obama may have expressed his views. But we do not have to agree with everyone. I will say something about the leadership in our country, but I will not talk much about the question of leadership in foreign countries.”
