Rahul Gandhi: “Pegasus is way to crush democracy”

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while addressing a press conference today said, “Pegasus is way to crush democracy”.

He questioned the central government on the Pegasus row and asked three questioned, “We want answer to three questions 1. Who authorised pegasus 2. Who all were tapped using Pegasus 3. Is pegasus data used by other nation or only by Indian government?” He further said that Congress had raised these question in the parliament, “We curbed the parliament proceeding, we stopped because it is an attack on the nation and destroy the democracy.”

He said that pegasus is a nasty way of controlling the politics of the country to frighten people and blackmail them. He further said, “Congress will again raise the question in the parliament and will have a debate in parliament which will not liked by BJP.”

He attacked PM Modi by asking his stance on the pegasus row, “We want to hear PM’s stance, if he has done this, then I want to ask why, PM is not above nation or institution. Did the PM get the data about ministers, and if yes this is criminal act.”

Mr Gandhi said that governments have been dropped using pegasus and it is a deeper problem, “This is a deeper problem, pegasus used for national security is justifiable to an extend but PM using it as a personal tool is a criminal offence.”

He further attacked the centre and said the Indian government is attacking India, “if this data is held by world then government is attacking India. Govt cannot answer the questions because it is an illegal action, it is not just a political matter but existencial matter, It is an attack on the democracy and only one and two people have done this.”

Rahul Gandhi also said that the government is using central agencies for their benefit, “Apart from pegasus, Government is using central agencies, curbing debates in parliament to India’s destroy the idea of India which was brought forth in 1947.”
