Rahul Gandhi Should Be President Again, Party’s Youth Wing Says In Its Resolution

In a resolution passed at the end of the two-day meet, led by IYC national president Y Srinivas and in-charge Krishna Allavaru, the youth wing said they want Rahul Gandhi as president again.

In a two-day national executive meeting, on September 6 in Goa, the Indian Youth Congress, the youth wing of the Congress party, passed a resolution for senior leader Rahul Gandhi to become the president of the Congress again.

The meeting was presided over by IYC National President Shri Srinivas BV, and by IYC In-charge and AICC Jt. Secretary Shri Krishna Allavaru.

The resolution stated that, “The National President of the Indian Youth Congress, Shri Srinivas BV ji said that the leader of the Congress party, Shri Rahul Gandhi ji, should become the National President of the Congress party again, for which a resolution was unanimously passed in the meeting.”

“National Incharge of Indian Youth Congress and AICC Jt-Secretary Shri Krishna Allavaru ji said that every single worker of Indian Youth Congress will fight against this dictatorial government in the coming days and will work to take the ideology of Congress party and the message of Shri Rahul Gandhi ji to the people of the country,” the resolution added.

The demand for a full-time Congress chief has been pending since 2019. Rahul Gandhi, who took over the post from his mother Sonia Gandhi in 2017, stepped down after the 2019 defeat. The Congress has since failed to find a replacement and, thus Sonia Gandhi continues to be the party’s interim chief.

Elections to the post of president have been postponed thrice in the last two years and were recently delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the press note, “In the two-day meeting, there were discussions on topics such as unemployment, rising inflation, farmers problem, national security, selling the country’s properties, and how to fight against the BJP government on these anti-people issues in the coming times.”
