Rahul Gandhi Pushed On The Ground By Police, Congress Workers Lathicharged En Route Hathras

The videos shared on the social media show that one of the policemen pushed Rahul Gandhi. In this commotion, the Congress leader fell to the ground.

 

Noida| Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, who were going to meet the family of the gangrape victim in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, were stopped by the police in Greater Noida when both got down from the car and proceeded on foot. The Gandhi siblings were accompanied by hundreds of party workers. However, a heavy police deployment was done at the Yamuna expressway to stop both Rahul and Priyanka who wanted to meet the Hathras gangrape victim’s family.

After being stopped, they started marching towards Hathras. However, at some distance, the police stopped them again. Rahul Gandhi tried to move forward, however, the police tried to stop him. The videos show that one of the police pushed Rahul Gandhi. In this commotion, Rahul Gandhi fell to the ground. Some videos of the incident shared on social media also show police lathi charging some Congress workers.

Rahul Gandhi after the incident said, “Just now police pushed me, lathicharged me and threw me to the ground. I want to ask, can only Modi Ji walk in this country? Can’t a normal person walk? Our vehicle was stopped, so we started walking.”

Hathras is 142 kilometres away from Greater Noida. Meanwhile, the Hathras administration imposed Section 144 in the district till October 31. Ahead of the Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi’s visit, all the borders of Hathras are also sealed citing COVID-19. Barricades have been placed in the victim’s village.

Priyanka Gandhi tweeted, “The father of the gang-raped girl was taken away forcefully. CM was pressurized in the name of VC. They are not satisfied with the investigation. The whole family is now under house arrest. Speaking up is forbidden. Does the government want to silence them by threatening them?”

According to reports, Police personnel have been deployed in the victim’s village. Barricades have been erected on the main road outside the village so that no outsider can reach the victim’s house. The media is also not allowed to come to the village. ADM level officers are also posted at the entry point of the village.
