Rajasthan Governor Approves Assembly Session From 14th August

After the Governor returned the third proposal, Gehlot cabinet met for the fourth time and passed a proposal including the suggestion

Amid the political upheaval of Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot resolved the issue of convening of the assembly session. Now their focus will be to prove the majority by strengthening the fence. Gehlot has held a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party at the Fairmont Hotel today. The MLA of the Gehlot camp is in the same hotel.

On Wednesday, governor of Rajasthan Kalraj Mishra sent back a proposal passed by Gehlot cabinet to convene assembly session by July 31. It also answered the queries raised by governor while returning the second proposal. But it did not take into account the suggestion of 21 day notice to MLAs before session, by Governor.

After the Governor returned the third proposal, Gehlot cabinet met for the fourth time and passed a proposal including the suggestion. The governor then approved the request for convening assembly session.

Hearing in the case of BSP MLAs at 2 pm in the High Court

On the other hand, the BSP will petition against Assembly Speaker CP Joshi against 6 of its MLAs joining Congress. The party will demand that the membership of its MLAs be scrapped. The BSP had also filed a petition in the High Court on Wednesday. In this case, BJP MLA Madan Dilawar has also reached the High Court again. Both petitions were heard on Wednesday for about 1 hour.
The court asked the BSP that your MLAs joined the Congress on 16 September 2019, so why are you challenging now after so long? The court questioned Dilawar that what is the merit in your petition? This question was because Dilawar’s application was rejected on Monday. He has petitioned afresh. In the case of BSP MLAs, a hearing will be held again from 2 pm today.
Assembly speaker again reached Supreme Court
Speaker CP Joshi on Wednesday filed a fresh petition in the Supreme Court in the case of disqualification of 19 MLAs including Sachin Pilot. He has challenged the order of Rajasthan High Court of 24 July. The High Court had given an interim order to maintain status quo in case of disqualification of MLAs.
