Ram Vilas Paswan To Be Cremated With Full State Honours At Patna’s Digha Ghat Today

Ram Vilas Paswan died in Delhi on Thursday at the age of 74. He was ill for the last few months and was hospitalized on 11 September.

 

Patna| The last rites of Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) founder Ram Vilas Paswan will be carried out today. He will be given a state funeral at Digha Ghat at 12.30 pm.

Paswan’s mortal remains were brought to Patna at 7.55 pm on Friday evening. At the airport itself, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar paid tribute to his long-time nemesis. Recently, the ties between Nitish Kumar’s JDU and Paswan’s LJP had strained even more. Chirag, Ram Vilas Paswan’s son and LJP national president, had repeatedly attacked Nitish several times in the past.

On Friday, Paswan’s body was kept for his last darshan at his 12 Janpath government house in Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute there. Modi was accompanied by BJP President JP Nadda and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. President Ram Nath Kovind, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also paid tributes to the departed soul.

Ram Vilas had heart surgery twice

Ram Vilas Paswan died in Delhi on Thursday at the age of 74. He was ill for the last few months and was hospitalized on 11 September. He had heart surgery on the night of 2 October at AIIMS. There was also a bypass surgery done before this.
