Black Buck Poaching Case: Salman Khan gets five years of imprisonment

The verdict has come out 20 years after the incident took place in 1998 when Salman Khan was filming for Hum Saath Saath Hai movie.

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been convicted under sections 9/51 of Wildlife Protection Act by the Jodhpur court in a blackbuck poaching case and has been sentenced to jail for 2 years although he will be eligible for bail, whereas, other actors — Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam Kothari — have been acquitted. The verdict has come out 20 years after the incident took place in 1998 when he was filming for Hum Saath Saath Hai movie.

On October 2, 1998, the Bishnoi community of Rajasthan had filed a complaint against the actors, who allegedly hunted down two blackbucks during the filming of the movie. According to the complaint, Salman Khan is accused of killing two blackbucks in Bhagoda ki Dhani near Jodhpur on October 1-2, 1998. He was also charged with possessing a weapon with an expired license.
