Mumbai| A week has passed after Maharashtra assembly election results but the BJP and the ShivSena are still in a deadlock. ShivSena spokesman Sanjay Raut said on Sunday that the party has the support of more than 170 MLAs. This figure may also be 175. So far there has been no talk with BJP about forming a government.

Raut said, “There will be discussion only if the Chief Minister’s post is agreed.” Meanwhile, former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar said that for the first time after the results, Sanjay Raut contacted him and sent a message. Ajit was in a meeting then, but he said that he would talk to Raut soon.

Earlier, there was a buzz in the Maharashtra political corridors that ShivSena is looking to form a government with the support of NCP and Congress. ShivSena has 56 seats while Congress and NCP have 44 and 54 seats respectively. Congress-NCP who are trying to keep BJP away from power may support Sena to form government in the state.

However, the buzzword also says that ShivSena has offered the CM post to Sharad Pawar and demanded the Deputy CM post for Aaditya Thackeray.
While several developments are unfolding in the state, Congress MP Hussain Dalwai wrote to Congress interim Chief Sonia Gandhi regarding support to ShivSena. NCP Chief Sharad Pawar too will be meeting Sonia Gandhi in Delhi today.
