Second-Wave of Coronavirus: India Logs Highest Daily Rise of Close To 41000 Covid-19 Cases

According to the Health Ministry data, 40,953 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the last 24 hours. At the same time, around 188 people have died.

 

New Delhi| Coronavirus is wreaking havoc in India once again. As the cases are topping charts, the signs of the Second Wave of Coronavirus pandemic in India are becoming visible. If we look at the Coronavirus situation now, the country has returned to its four-month-old condition, when more than 40000 new cases were found every day. India has recorded the highest number of 40,953 new cases in the last twenty-four hours after a long gap. Earlier, the figure stood at 39,726 on Friday. Around 41,810 new infections were identified on 29 November 2020 last year.

According to the Health Ministry data, 40,953 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the last 24 hours. At the same time, around 188 people have died. The death toll on Friday was 157. In this way, 1,59,558 deaths have occurred in the country so far from the coronavirus, while the total number of cases has reached 1,15,55,284.

Currently, the number of active cases in India is 2,88,394 and 1,11,07,332 people have recovered from the virus so far. According to the Ministry, the rate of recoveries in India is 96.25 per cent, while the rate of increase in the number of active cases has reached 2.35 per cent. At the same time, the rate of death due to infection has been 1.38 per cent.

Covid-19 cases in India crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7 last year. After this, cases of infection had crossed 30 lakh on 23 August, 40 lakh on 5 September and to 50 lakh on 16 September.

Of the 188 people who died in the last 24 hours, 70 have died in Maharashtra, 38 in Punjab and 17 deaths were recorded in Kerala. So far 1,59,558 people have lost their lives in the country due to this global epidemic. Of these 53,208 people died in Maharashtra, 12,582 in Tamil Nadu, 12,425 in Karnataka, 10,953 in Delhi, 10,301 in West Bengal, 8,757 in Uttar Pradesh and 7,187 in West Bengal.

However, the situation has worsened in the last week even as India has begun inoculating its population. As many as 8 states including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka and Haryana are seeing an increase in new cases being reported daily.
