Sensex, Nifty Soars After Prime Minister’s Address

At 10.12 Am, the Sensex traded at 32,079.94, up by 708.82 points and Nifty traded at 9,392.70, up by 196.15 points.

Mumbai| Sensex soared over 1,100 points in early morning trades, one day after Prime Minister Modi announced an economic stimulus package worth 20 Lakh crore to make India self-reliant.

Sensex opened with a hike of 935.42 points, trading at 32,204.98.

Minutes after opening, the Nifty touched 9500-mark, 228.85 points up trading at 9,425.40.

PM Modi on Tuesday announced an economic stimulus worth 20 lakh crore which will be used for reforms in land, labour, liquidity and law. Though the announcements have boosted the morale of investors, more details on the package are yet to come.

At 10.12 Am, the Sensex traded at 32,079.94, up by 708.82 points and Nifty traded at 9,392.70, up by 196.15 points.

Banks, Financial Services, Metal and Realty were all in green on the blue-chip Nifty 50 Index. The pharmaceutical sector was the only one trading in red on Nifty.

Marginal rise of 2 basis points was observed in Bond Yields.

Hinting at buying by the foreigners, the rupee opened with a gain of 16 paise.
