“ShivSena didn’t offer us anything”: Sharad Pawar after meeting with Sonia Gandhi

“There was no talk from our side or anyone else about the government, nor did they offer us anything,” Sharad Pawar claimed.

 

New Delhi| Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar met Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday. Addressing the media after the meeting he said, “We have met Sonia ji and informed her about the ground situation in Maharashtra. We did not have any special talks on the formation of the government. However, it has been agreed to meet again.” According to sources Sonia Gandhi had rejected speculation of supporting the Shiv Sena.

On the ongoing impasse on forming a government in Maharashtra, Pawar said that people of the state have given NCP the mandate to sit in opposition. “At the moment, we do not have a number to form a government. If the BJP and its allies have a number, they have the responsibility to form a government. We’ll see what happens next.”

No offer from Shiv Sena on government: Pawar

On the question of meeting offer by ShivSena MP Sanjay Raut to NCP leader Ajit Pawar, he said that ShivSena has taken a strong step against the BJP in Maharashtra. “There was no talk from our side or anyone else about the government, nor did they offer us anything,” Sharad Pawar claimed.

Fadnavis said – Government will be formed soon

Earlier in Delhi, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Home Minister Amit Shah. After that, Fadnavis said, “I will not say anything about what the government formation, but we are confident.”

Those who have the majority, form the government: Raut

In Mumbai, ShivSena leaders Sanjay Raut and Ramdas Kadam met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. After that, Raut said: “We met with the Governor. The governor has been told that the ShivSena is not responsible for not forming a government in Maharashtra. Whoever has the majority, they should form a government. The governor is a constitutional position and he is free to make decisions. We just put our side in front of them.”
