Singhu Border Tense: Stone Pelting At Farmers By Locals, Police Use Tear Gas and Lathicharge, Many Injured

Singhu Border| Three days after the Republic Day violence at Tractor parade, chaos has broken out at Singhu border again. At around 1 pm, residents from Narela reached the protest site and started shouting slogans and demanding to evict them from the border. They said that people’s businesses are being affected due to the farmers’ movement. At around 1.45 pm, these people reached near the tents of the farmers and damaged their belongings. After this, a scuffle broke out between the farmers and the people chanting slogans. There was stone pelting from both sides.

Police tried to intervene, but as the situation deteriorated, they resorted to charging batons and firing tear gas shells. Many people were injured in this clash of three sides. While some policemen have also suffered serious injuries. These include SHO of Alipore police station. He was attacked with a sword.

Earlier, Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Samiti leader Satnam Singh Pannu said that the central government is spoiling the atmosphere at the farmers’ strike site by sending RSS people. “But, we will not go back till the agricultural laws are repealed,” he said.

Singhu border is sealed and barricades placed on all sides

Deployment of security forces on the Singhu border has been increased. The protest site has been blocked on all sides and paved barricades have been put up. Meanwhile, heavy force is also deployed at Tikri border. These two borders are the important points of the farmers’ protest.

Police were in action for the last 2 days after the violence in the tractor parade. Due to this, it was felt on Thursday that the peasant movement on Ghazipur border might end. However, the movement seems to be intensifying after the emotional bet of Rakesh Tikait, spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, late at night. The farmers have called a Mahapanchayat in Muzaffarnagar today.
