PM Modi said it is delighting that young Bhutanese scientists will be travelling to India to design and launch small satellites of Bhutan.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to neighbouring Bhutan. On his second and last day of the visit, he addressed the students of Royal University in Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu. Addressing the students, he said that it is delighting that young Bhutanese scientists will be travelling to India to design and launch small satellites of Bhutan. “I hope that someday, many of you will be scientists, engineers and innovators,” PM Modi said.
“Hopefully, Bhutan scientists will make satellite”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed hope that one-day Bhutanese scientists will also make satellites. “We inaugurated the Thimphu ground station of the South Asia satellite and expanded our space cooperation. The benefits of telemedicine through satellites, distance education, mapping, weather forecasting, warning of natural disasters, etc. will be ensured,” PM Modi said.
“India and Bhutan share a common culture”
PM Modi said that today, India is witnessing historical changes in all sectors. The pace of building infrastructure has doubled in the last five years. He said that India and Bhutan have a shared culture. There is no dearth of opportunities in today’s time. There is a tremendous bond between the people of India and Bhutan. PM Modi said that fast work is going on in India to eradicate poverty. PM Modi asked the students of the university not to take any stress on the exam. PM Modi also discussed his book Exam Warriors. It is said that he wrote this book inspired by the teachings of Buddha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that youth and spirituality are our strength.

On the first day of the visit, PM Modi held talks with his Bhutan counterpart Lotay Tshering on various subjects on Saturday. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the steps to further deepen the bilateral partnership between India and Bhutan in various fields. An MoU was signed between New Delhi and Thimphu involving five sectors including hydropower and education. PM Modi has come to Bhutan for the second time and this is his first visit after being re-elected in May this year.
