Swamy was undergoing treatment at the Holy Family Hospital. He had suffered a cardiac arrest on Saturday, and doctors were unable to revive him.
Stan Swamy and his co-accused, in the Elgar Parishad case, had been charged by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) as being members of frontal organizations working on behalf of the banned CPI (Maoists). The NIA, last month, had filed an affidavit before the HC opposing Swamyâs bail plea. It had said there did not exist a âconclusive proofâ of his medical ailments. The agency had alleged that Swamy was a Maoist, who had hatched a conspiracy to create unrest in the country.
