“Students, Parents Want JEE/NEET Exams, More Than 7 Lakh Admit Card Downloaded” : Education Minister

Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said, “The parents of the students were constantly asking why JEE and NEET are not being held.”

 

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has defended the Govt’s decision to conduct all India Level examination for engineering and medical courses amid Coronavirus pandemic. Nishank said that parents and students are constantly under pressure. Their families want examinations. 80% of the students have already downloaded the admit card for the JEE exam.

He said in an interview to DD News, “The parents of the students were constantly asking why JEE and NEET are not approving the exam. Students were worried about their future. They were saying how long they would just continue preparing.”

The Union Education Minister informed that out of 8.58 lakh students registering for JEE, 7.25 lakh candidates have downloaded their admit cards. He said,” We are with the students. First their safety, then their education.” When questioned about opening the school, he said that this decision will be taken according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Home and Health.

 

NEET and JEE will be held in September

The National Testing Agency is all set to conduct the JEE-Main and NEET exam. JEE Main exam will be conducted from 1 to 6 September, while NEET will be on 13 September.

All students, faculty and staff at the exam center must follow the rules of social distancing. Must keep a distance of 6 feet.

Students, faculty members and staff will be given a temperature check before entry into the exam center. In case of fever, students will be seated in separate rooms.

 

Opposition said – NEET-JEE exams should be postponed

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that NEET-JEE examinations should be postponed in view of the situation of corona infection in the country.

The Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said on Tuesday that students’ lives could be in danger due to the examinations amid Corona epidemic.

AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi took a dig at the Centre over the issue. He said that students should prepare themselves for even more terrible times, because it would be meaningless to expect fairness from this government.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi too demanded to postpone JEE/NEET.
