Tihar authorities of Tihar jail, where the culprits are lodged, said they will approach the court for a fresh date for the execution. It is to be noted that the hangings of the convicts have been deferred thrice before this. The convicts are to be hanged together and not separately, which is why it has taken all their legal aids to exhaust before they face the execution.

On Monday, the Patiala House court had rejected their execution on 3rd February at 6 AM since Pawan Gupta had filed the mercy petition to the President.

After the mercy plea was rejected by the President, Director-General of Delhi’s Tihar Jail said, “In view of rejection of mercy petition of Pawan by the Honourable President of India, we will be approaching the Patiala House Court today for fixing fresh date of execution of death warrant in respect of all the four convicts.”
