“Talibani Crime By Tablighi Jamaat”: Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi

New Delhi| The gathering by Tablighi Jamaat is “Talibani Crime” which led to infecting 128 people across the country, Union Minister and senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said on Wednesday, calling the mosque’s act an “unpardonable sin”.

The minority affairs took on Twitter and said, “Talibani Crime by Tablighi Jamaat. This is not negligence. It’s a serious criminal act. When the entire country is fighting united against Corona, such a sin is unpardonable.”

Naqvi also posted many messages on his social media accounts from Muslim religious leaders requesting people to stay at home and strictly follow the guidelines drawn by the government to control the spread of the virus.

The Tablighi Jamat conference was held in phases between March 1 and March 15, with over 2000 attendees, some from overseas too. Markaz Nizamuddin is the international headquarters of Tablighi Jamaat for close to 100 years. The Tablighi Jamaat is a missionary movement comprising of people across the world preaching others to return to the orthodox Muslim values.

According to the Home Ministry, around 2100 foreigners visited the Tablighi Jamaat headquarters in Delhi from January 1. Hundreds of the members were staying in the organization’s mosque Markaz Nizamuddin, for an event planned in March.

Around 2100 people were evacuated from the Markaz Nizamuddin mosque building this morning.

Evacuations started on Monday with a nationwide hunt of suspected people who attended the congregation. A police case has been filed on the administration of the mosque for violating guidelines and allowing mass gatherings.

50 have tested positive in Tamil Nadu, 24 in Delhi, 21 in Telangana, 21 in Andhra Pradesh, 10 in Andamans and one each in Assam and Jammu and Kashmir after attending the congregation at the Delhi-based mosque.

824 foreigners also travelled to different states and their details have been shared with police chiefs, the home ministry informed.
