Thankfully the credit takers didn’t change the color of ‘green flag’: Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached Kanpur today. There he flagged off the ‘trial run’ of the metro. Now Samajwadi Party chief and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has taken a jibe at this. Akhilesh alleged that it is just that those who took false credit for it did not change the color of ‘green flag’.

Akhilesh Yadav wrote on Twitter, “Kanpur Metro is such a gift of SP for the local residents which will write a new history of transport. Its contribution will prove to be revolutionary to make Kanpur prosperous again. Thankfully, those who took false credit for it did not change the color of ‘Green Jhandi’.

Let us inform that the foundation stone of Kanpur Metro was done on 4 October 2016 by the then Akhilesh Yadav government. But on 20 September 2017, the central government again asked to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the Kanpur Metro. The State Government sent the new DPR of Kanpur Metro to the Central Government on 5 September 2018. The Central Government approved the Kanpur Metro on 28 February 2019. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of Kanpur Metro on 8 March 2019. At the same time, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the construction work of Kanpur Metro on 15 November 2019.

The construction of Kanpur Metro will cost more than Rs 11 thousand 76 crore. About 40 lakh commuters will benefit from running the metro in this industrial city. Metro trains are currently running in 3 cities of Uttar Pradesh. These cities are Noida, Ghaziabad and Lucknow. The fourth city with metro train facility will now be Kanpur. Apart from these cities, the government is also preparing to run metro rail in Varanasi, Prayagraj, Meerut, Gorakhpur and Agra.
