Those Who Do Not Talk For Bengal Farmers’ Interest, Supporting Delhi Protest: PM Modi

The parties which do not speak in the interest of farmers in West Bengal, they come here in Delhi and talk about the farmer, PM Modi said.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred 18 thousand crores of installment of Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan) to the accounts of 9 crore farmers today. In his address to the farmers through video conferencing, Modi targeted the Mamata government and said that the farmers in Bengal are denied the benefit of the scheme. He said after the implementation of the new laws, farmers can sell their produce wherever they want and where they get the right price.

 

Highlights from PM Modi’s speech

Modi said that today, 18 thousand crore rupees have been deposited directly in the bank account of more than 9 crore farmer families of the country at one click. “Ever since this scheme started, more than 1 lakh 10 thousand crore rupees have reached the account of farmers. Today I regret that more than 70 lakh farmers of West Bengal have not been able to get this benefit. Over 23 lakh farmers of Bengal have applied online to take advantage of this scheme. But, the state government has stalled the verification process for so long, ” he said.

PM Modi said that opposition did not raise voice for the 2 thousand rupees received by the farmers and went to Punjab for the agitation. “Does the people of the country not know about this game?” he asked.

Millions of farmers benefit from crop insurance scheme

MSP given one and a half times the cost

“Our government has endeavoured that the farmers of the country should get a fair price for the crop. According to the report of the long-standing Swaminathan Committee, we gave one and a half times the cost to MSP farmers. Earlier, MSP was available only on a few crops, we also increased that. We also moved in the direction that the farmer should have not only one market but new markets to sell the crop. We added more than a thousand agricultural mandis of the country online. Of these, more than one lakh crore rupees have been traded, ” PM Modi said.
