TMC MLA Arindam Bhattacharya Joins BJP In Delhi, Says “Atmanirbhar Bengal” Is His Dream

This comes ahead of the assembly elections due this year in West Bengal, with the BJP aiming to dislodge the Trinamool Congress government in the state.

On Wednesday, another TMC MLA joined the BJPin Delhi.

An MLA from Nadia’s Santipur constituency, Arindam Bhattacharya, arrived in Delhi earlier today to meet BJP’s national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya. He joined the BJP at the party’s national headquarters on Wednesday afternoon.

After joining the saffron party, Bhattacharya said: “Today, youth in West Bengal is fed up as they are jobless. The youth got assurance but they didn’t get jobs. There (in Bengal) is no vision, no future planning, no industrialization and work is zero. This TMC government comes with big expectations, but see what is happening today. The name of Bengalis is attached with corruption today, which is shameful. We can’t create hurdles, rather we were not allowed to work. Our dream is for Atmanirbhar West Bengal and Atmanirbhar India, which is Modi’s mantra”.

This comes ahead of the assembly elections due this year in West Bengal, with the BJP aiming to dislodge the Trinamool Congress government in the state.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday, in reference to the leaders leaving the party, had said: “Those who want to join the BJP [Bharatiya Janata Party] can leave, but we will not bow our heads before the saffron party.”

Kailash Vijaywargiya, last week, had claimed that he has a list of 41 MLAs “who support” the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal but are ready to join the BJP.

“I have a list of 41 MLAs who want to join the BJP. If I take these legislators in the BJP’s fold, the Mamata government will fall. But we are looking at who should be admitted in the party and who should not be,” news agency PTI quoted him as saying.
