Among notable Bollywood celebrities, production houses of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Rohit Shetty, Yash Raj have filed the lawsuit.
The production companies owned by Karan Johar, Yash Raj, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan are party to the lawsuit filed by four film industry associations and 34 producers in the Delhi High Court against “irresponsible reporting by certain media houses”, in Sushant Singh Rajput case and happenings thereafter, NDTV reported.
Republic TV and Arnab Goswami and Pradeep Bhandari of the channel; and Times Now and its top faces Rahul Shivshankar and Navika Kumar have been sued by these production houses.
The lawsuit asks the channels and social media platforms to “refrain from making or publishing irresponsible, derogatory and defamatory remarks against Bollywood and its members”.
It also asks, as per the report, that they be restrained from conducting media trials of film personalities and interfering with the right to privacy of people in the industry.
The news channels are accused of using derogatory words such as “dirt”, “filth”, “scum”, “druggies” and expressions such as “all the perfumes of Arabia cannot take away the stench and the stink of this filth and scum of the underbelly of Bollywood”.
