Lakhimpur : Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Ajay Mishra’s son allegedly ran his car over protesting farmers on Sunday in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri. The incident killed two farmers. Two farmers died as a result of the incident, which led to a huge outcry, the police said.
The farmers were protesting against the 3 farm bills passed by the government. The event was at Ajay Mishra’s paternal village in Lakhimpur Kheri’s Tikunia, where UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya was to be the chief guest. They had planned to show black flags to the deputy chief minister.
The farmers also demonstrated in front of Ashish Mishra’s car when he was going to receive Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya. It has been alleged, that the Union minister’s son then ran his car over the protesting farmers. The Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) claimed that not two, but three farmers lost their lives in the incident.
Subsequently, the angry farmers burned down three cars, including Ashish Mishra’s. As per the latest reports, the farmers have continued to protest and the situation has turned tense in Tikunia.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav condemned the incident and hit out at the BJP. “It is a very inhuman and cruel act by the Minister of State for Home to trample the peaceful farmers who were opposing the farm laws.”
The Congress also reacted sharply to the incident. Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) President Ajay Kumar Lallu shared a video of the farmers burning the cars in Tikunia on Twitter and said that the BJP was suppressing the voice of protests with “Hitler-like” anarchy and hooliganism.
Rashtriya Lok Dal president Jayant Chaudhary, on the other hand, directly attacked Home Minister Amit Shah. He alleged that the home minister was “conspiring to suppress” the protest by farmers.
Om Prakash Rajbhar, the founder of Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party, also condemned the incident and hit out at the BJP.
