Uttar Pradesh Police rescues 24 girls from shelter home in Deoria

Deoria | The Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday rescued 24 girls from a shelter home in Deoria after Central Intelligence Bureau (CBI) revoked its license following an inspection. The police also arrested a couple who were the managers at the shelter home.

The Police were informed about the incident after a girl escaped from the shelter home and told police that they were ill-treated like servants.

Speaking to media, Superintendent of Police Rohan P Kanay said, “When the order to close this institution was made, our people went there and the organisation’s director misbehaved with our team. Today, after a girl escaped from there, we got to the reality of that place. There have been many big disclosures during the investigation. 24 children have been rescued safely so far. ”

The police official further informed that the shelter home director Girija Tripathi and her husband have been arrested while the investigation is still underway.

Earlier on July 24, the state police after receiving information rescued 44 girls and arrested 11 employees for allegedly sexually harassing the girls. The Supreme court on Thursday taking a Sou motto cognizance on the case issued a notice to the Bihar Government and the Centre seeking a detailed reply from them in connection with the same.
