Varun Gandhi says he will go to court for farmers’ right

Lucknow: In Bareilly’s Bahedi, Pilibhit MP Varun Gandhi has warned that if farmers are exploited by snatching their rights, he will not fall before the government but will go to court for the farmers.

He said that I will go to the court for the farmers and get an FIR against the officials involved in corruption and exploitation of the farmers. Varun Gandhi, who was giving a statement on the issue of farmers against his own party BJP, was angry on the issue of farmers.

Many farmers told that weighing has been started today, that too after getting information about Varun’s arrival. Varun told the officers present that they should be ashamed that the farmers are already troubled because of the flood and they are exploiting farmers by harassing more. He directed his representative to remain present at the mandi for 24 hours and keep him informed about the status of paddy weighing.

Last week, Varun Gandhi, who has been critical of the government’s handling of agricultural issues, shared a video clip purportedly showing a man setting fire to a heap of paddy crop after his efforts to sell it failed.

“There is no greater punishment that a farmer can inflict upon himself than setting fire to his own crops. We must all introspect as to why the system has pushed them to the edge for no fault of their own. It is a failure of all in the nation if we cannot protect those who feed us,” Varun Gandhi had said.

Recently, Varun Gandhi and his mother, Maneka Gandhi, were excluded from the BJP’s new national executive committee.

The development came hours after Varun Gandhi condemned the Lakhimpur Kheri incident in which the convoy of Union Minister Ajay Misra’s son allegedly ran over and killed four protesting farmers.

Varun Gandhi had called for “accountability for the innocent blood of farmers” as he posted a purported video of the incident.
